Weather

When ordinary people discuss the weather it is usually an idle topic. Not so with cruisers! It is always a primary concern. Trip destinations and distances, anchoring, activities and of course safety revolves around it so it is treated with great respect. The internet is the best source of weather info but one can also use SSB for weathernets or weatherfax. Pretty much any harbor with a marina that caters to cruisers will have a local ‘weather net’ that broadcasts sometime in the morning. The voices become mini-celebrities, with English accents dominating the favorites; Stuart in Georgetown being mine with ‘Nick the Voice’ in Nassau a close second. Some of the better financed cruisers get satellite weather.
